Shuttles from Gosford Station to Festival Site
A shuttle service has been provided to Festival patrons travelling from Gosford Station in the past. Details on this service will be discussed with those who have booked the shuttle service. To book, use the Equipment and Shuttle Hire Form.
Trains
Gosford Station is the nearest train station to site, approximately 20 – 30 minutes drive. Gosford Station is located on both the Newcastle and Central Coast Line and the North Shore Line. For information on catching the train including timetables, network maps and fares please see the Cityrail website
Navigating Gosford Station
Gosford Train Station is relatively small with only two exits to street access. Unfortunately, one of the exits leads to a bus bay & is not readily accesible by cars. To be picked up by car from this exit you will have to walk further, potentially in the rain. It is recommended that you exit to Showground Road – this is where the shuttle service will be picking up passengers. There is a news stand on the station councourse.
- Get off the train at Gosford Station & using either the stairs or the lift travel up to the station concourse & through the ticket gates.
- Turn left and exit the station underneath the sign that says “Carpark Showground Rd” with the red line underneath.
- Turn left at the ramp or right at the stairs for the pickup area.
- There is limited seating and 2 payphones in an undercover area just outside the station.
Trains from Newcastle
To travel from Newcastle Airport to Gosford Train Station it is necessary to catch either a bus or a taxi to one of the local train stations, on the Newcastle and Central Coast Line. (Hamilton Station is recommended) Trains travelling on this line will enable you to travel from Newcastle to Gosford without having to change trains.
Trains from Sydney
To travel from Sydney Airport to Gosford Train Station there are train stations located at both the Domestic and International Terminals. It is suggested that anyone travelling by train from Sydney Airport to Gosford change trains at Central Station. Central Station is a relatively large train station but not difficult to navigate. Please allow 30 minutes to comfortably change trains at Central while carting all your gear. A map of the station is available here.
When leaving Suburban Platforms (16 – 23) to transfer to the Intercity and Country Platforms:
- It is recommended that you take the northern exit from your platform and turn left at the bottom of the stairs. (Or else you get to go the long way carrying all your armour…)
- Follow the pathway and near the top of the next flight of stairs you will see all the train departure and arrival information.
Alternatively, if you are carrying lots of equipment, there are lifts at the northern end of each of these platforms.
- Take the lift down to the ground floor and turn right towards the escalators up to the Intercity and Country Platforms.
- Either take the escalator or the nearby lift up to the Country Trains level.
- Once at the top of the escalators walk past the news stand & you should see screens with the train departure and arrival information.
If you are travelling on either the Eastern Suburbs or the Illawarra and South Coast Line you will arrive at Central on Platforms 24 or 25.
- Take the northern escalator (the direction you would be travelling in if you were going to Bondi Junction) or the lift up to the ground floor level.
- Walk towards the ticket gates straight ahead of you as you exit the lift / escalator.
- Take the stairs on your left just before you reach the ticket gates and follow the path until you reach the escalators up to the Intercity and Country Platforms.
- Either take the escalator or the nearby lift up to the Country Trains level
- Once at the top of the escalators walk past the news stand & you should see screens with the train departure and arrival information.
