The Caroso Ball uses a period event format to offer dancers an opportunity to show off their skills, and watch other people perform.
The dancers take turns to choose a dance from a set-list, and a partner from those gathered around the edge of the dance floor. (If you'd rather watch, you can sit down so people know not to ask you to dance.) Everyone else is welcome to find their own partner and join in the dance. The chosen partner of whoever chooses the dance will take their turn next.
